let my kids stay home from school on a random rainy day, then spend it building forts and watching movies--and maybe even eating chocolate chip cookies for breakfast, too.

I adore this? Have I told you that my secret hope is to have a bookstore that I own, and my kids can just stay in there all day doing school (cause I want to homeschool). I'm sure there will be many random fort days.

to say i love this post would be an understatement :) I'm with you Laura! School days are just around the corner...and I know I'll treasure those days of playing "hooky" with the kids. and forts, movies, and cookies are a perfect combo :)
i'd have loved that when i was little- especially the cookie part! now cause of you, i want cookies, ha ha :)
